LANTAU ISLAND - HONG KONG

Last winter break, I had the greatest opportunity to visit the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. It was a pretty unexpected experience as it kinda brought back cherished memories of my past 12 years in Singapore, the mouth-watering delicacies and grubs to skyscraper buildings and mountain peaks. Hong Kong fits its definition. I've never imagined how our winter fiascos of finding shelter and warmth became such a worthwhile experience.

Hong Kong part 1 - Lantau Island

Once merely a remote monastery hidden by lush, mountain scenery, the Po Lin Monastery made it to the world map when the extraordinary Tian Tan Buddha statue (informally known as the Big Buddha) was erected in 1993. Sitting 34 metres high and facing north to look over the Chinese people, this majestic bronze Buddha draws pilgrims from all over Asia.

After alighting from the 25 minutes cable car ride, we were in for the unexpected. Cold strong winds blew greeted us and a stunning of 4 degrees hits the temperature of Lantau Island. We were basically freezing to the cold!

This here, is the stairs [note, not escalator] to the Big Buddha which lies on top of the mountain peak. It'was definitely a climb!

The five notorious San Diego's ! It was such a breezing day, we couldn't separate from one another!

In All : IT WAS AMAZING! Can't wait to return and explore the whole of Lantau Island
